About Noel

Noel Roddy from Dundalk in Ireland is an experienced racing driver having raced in many different formula's against some of the star names of World Motorsport, such as Eddie Irvine and Rubens Barrichello to name but two during his career. Noel's racing activities have been solely dependent on sponsorship, and despite racing on a fraction of his rivals budgets Noel has never lost his passion and determination to succeed in his chosen sport. Noel has proven to be a very talented and popular competitor with his spectacular, determined and never give up driving style making him a real crowd favorite.

As one of Ireland's top amateur racing drivers, having raced at most circuits in Ireland, The UK and France, competing in Formula Ford 1600 & 2000, Formula Vauxhall / Opel, Formula Palmer Audi, Formula Ireland and Formula Renault classes in Britian and France during his career, Noel then made his sensational return at the 2012 Phoenix Park Races, where Noel won his comeback race after five years away from racing. In 2013 he competed in Formula Ford 2000 at the World famous Spa Francorchamps Grand Prix circuit in Belgium, and is currently competing in the British Monoposto Formula 3 championship.

Career highlights include:

  • Three time quarter finalist at the Formula Ford Festival held in Brands Hatch, England annually (1985/87/89). 
  • Qualifying on the front row and leading his debut Formula Ford 2000 race (finished race 2nd).
  • Finishing runner-up in the Northern Irish FF2000 Championship in his debut season (1988). 
  • Setting the outright lap record at his home town Dundalk street races (1989). 
  • Winning on his Irish Formula Opel debut, going onto finish 4th in the Irish Formula Opel championship (missed 3 rounds) with highest points per race score (1991). 
  • Testing a Formula 3 car at Silverstone (1992) and quickest of the 3 drivers the team tested that day. 
  • Fourth in Irish Formula Europa Championship (part season) and British Formula Europa Winter Series (1999).
  • Leading the Irish Formula Opel/Europa Championship (1994 & 2001).
  • Won Formula Palmer Audi prize drive at Mondello Park and his race 2 battle for 4th position was voted the "scrap" of the 2001 championship.
  • Nine race wins in the Coupe de France Formula Renault Championship (2004/2007), Noel contested 42 races, with a total of 22 podiums, 10 race's lead and 5 fastest race laps.
  • Winner of the Phoenix Park (Dublin) Formula Ford 2000 race with fastest race lap (2012).
  • Noel has raced at the following circuits - Albi, Ales, Anglesey, Brands Hatch, Croft, Dijon, Donington Park (GP & National), Dundalk (street circuit), Dun Laoghaire (street circuit), Kirkistown, Knockhill, Ledenon, Magny Cours, Mondello Park, Nogaro, Pembrey, Phoenix Park (street circuit), Silverstone (GP & National), Spa Francorchamps, Thruxton and Val de Vienne.
